Gap Analysis: Global Communications
    Global Communications is losing ground in the telecommunications market. Stock prices have depreciated more than 50 % and stockholders are losing faith in the company. The market has become highly competitive and Global Communications must expand their services and step up their globalization to realize growth and long-term sustainability.  The senior leadership team has devised a strategic plan to expand their services, outsource technical call centers to India and Ireland and layoff employees. They plan to become a global company within three years. However, they failed to communicate their plans with key stakeholders. Many issues have developed and Global Communications must realize their opportunities for improvement in order to be successful.

Issue and Opportunity Identification
    Global Communications has various issues that can be looked upon as opportunities for improvement.  It looks as though the organizational communication within the organization has been suffering for quite some time. For example, when Katrina Heinz, the company’s CEO, sent an e-mail to the senior leadership team congratulating them on the board’s acceptance of their strategic plan to outsource some of the company’s call centers, her e-mail forgot to mention the impending lay-off and that those that were not let go would have to relocate and take a 10% salary cut. This was a prime example of filtering.
